About

George is a Sydney-based portrait and documentary photographer whose work is both relatable and thought-provoking. Born in Cairo, Egypt, in 1989, George migrated to Australia with his family in the early 90s. Growing up as a migrant in Sydney, his personal experiences fueled a deep interest in themes such as race, identity, cultural and religious prejudice, and the broader conditions that shape human existence. Through his lens, George captures the complex intersections between contemporary and traditional lifestyles, particularly within the African and Arab diasporas in Australia.

His photography engages viewers by playing with perception, blending the familiar with the unfamiliar, and encouraging them to question the world around them. By focusing on the relationships between the organic and the artificial, George's images reflect the human desire for perfection and a sense of belonging. His work highlights the often conflicting cultural connections that redefine our realities, making the ordinary feel foreign within the context of his powerful visual storytelling.

George has completed a Bachelor of Visual Arts and Design in 2019, where he received the NAVA Ignition Prize for high achievement.
